App Review: The Everything Machine

We loved Gadgetarium for its wondrous journey through machines and technology, and now I’ve met The Everything Machine.

What is The Everything Machine?
Here’s an app that takes all that talk about teaching children to learn a programming language and makes it real. The Everything Machine puts a new spin on the Maker movement (on that note – have you been to Durban’s Makerspace?) and turns your iPhone into a machine that can be programmed for play and discovery.

Check out the video below:

How Does The Everything Machine work?
Using a simple programming language, The Everything Machine creates open-ended opportunities, for kids to connect two or more ‘things’ and make a machine. Sounds simple enough, but it can get a little complex so there’s some starter ideas and plans included in the app. The Everything Machine turns your device into a grand game of connect-the-dots but with much more enchanting results.

Fascinating Playtime
It’s not just a stand-alone game though, as you can use receivers and transmitters to communicate with other devices too.

Get The Everything Machine
Download it via iTunes here – it costs $2.99 or about R42, depending on the exchange rate for the day. Absolutely worth every cent! Visit The Everything Machine website too, for more cool apps from Tinybop.
