Every week, we throw ideas around for stories and topics and one that’s been buzzing around our heads for the past few weeks was… What apps are helping parents keep their kids entertained during the holidays? So, we asked, you listened – thanks for the responses!
We took a little time to play with the apps you mentioned to us and threw in a few of the apps that helped keep our little ones occupied during the holidays.
First off, Holly – A Christmas Tale, is a free iOS app that’s more a story with a hidden object game embedded into it. The festive season may be far behind us, but it’s still just as enchanting to search for the hidden treasures throughout the story. And let’s not forget How The Grinch Stole Christmas – really, Dr Seuss gone interactive just ramps up our family’s love for his storytelling magic!
The LEGO games seemed to keep little hands busy for a few hours during the holidays. There’s a bunch of them to choose from, but coming out top in our house? LEGO City and LEGO Friends Art Maker. LEGO City is made up of a few mini-games, while LEGO Friends Art Maker will have your older kids doing makeovers and getting creative with Heart Cards and other artwork.
Of course, we’ve told you about Cars: Fast As Lightning this week already that had our Stacey’s three-year old son engrossed for ages! And, for the budding artists out there, Heather rounded up some cool resources and apps here.
And lastly, because learning doesn’t just happen during school terms, there’s Duolingo! Especially cool for older kids and parents too, Duolingo makes learning a new language fun, and adds in a little social element too.
