It’s time to break some records, folks! It’s World Read Aloud Day!
Head on over to Nal’ibali and sign up for World Read Aloud Day 2016.
Every year, World Read Aloud Day draws global attention to the wonder and importance of sharing stories and reading out loud. World Read Aloud Day motivates children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words and creates a community of readers taking action to show the world that the right to literacy belongs to all people.
Nal’ibali has (again!) made it super easy to get involved this year, with a great little story you and the kids can read together. Simply sign up and let’s get reading! They’re aiming to crack their previous record of 166 000 children reading and enjoying stories, so hop to it folks!
You can access the Nal’ibali stories for World Read Aloud Day here – the story of Neo and the Big, Wide World is available in all eleven languages. And if you’re looking for a little inspiration to get going, you can also listen to Yvonne Chaka Chaka reading the story in English and isiZulu. They’ve also created a fantastic Powerpoint presentation to help teachers illustrate the story as they read to their class. Check out all the Nal’ibali World Read Aloud Day resources here.
